Tribute to Betty Rodriguez Bishop, Republican Leader

Last week I learned of the passing of Betty Bishop, one of the kindest and most loving friends I’ve had in New Mexico politics. Betty is the former chair of the Doña Ana Republican Party and a former Republican House caucus/committee analyst, and a brilliant one who put her all into her work. Betty loved to talk about how research relaxed her and how much she enjoyed it. While Betty isn’t here on earth with us any longer, I’m blessed to have known her and glad to know she is in heaven where there is no evil and where I know I’ll see her again some day.

Tomorrow will be the viewing for Betty Bishop. Info on the viewing here.

Even after Betty’s passing the Bishop family has many of her medical bills left to pay. I urge you to support them and donate to their GoFundMe to help defray the expense they have.

I can’t describe how much Betty has encouraged me over the years since we met online in 2014— and then in person— and how she has been such a stalwart conservative leader who has advocated for conservative policies. She was like a political mom to me who has encouraged and helped me, whether it’s been discussing policy and how to elect Republicans, or spending a night in Santa Fe and organizing an event to support the second amendment or life. In a political world where there are few friends and fewer I can trust, Betty has never been more than a text or call away. When I’ve had a cause I’m supporting, Betty has always been there and always had good input and encouraging advice.

My prayers are with the Bishop family at this time: Gilbert, Joseph & Cassie, & Elizabeth and others I don’t know so well. We love your family and you’re in our thoughts.

And again– conservatives need to stand together more than ever. Please donate HERE to Betty’s medical fund to help her family during this difficult time.

Your comments and criticism are welcomed and encouraged. Please keep it "G-rated."
