SILVER CITY: Just last week politicalfireball.com broke the information that Grant County progressive environmentalists aligned with Eco-terrorists and Grant County Commissioner Harry Browne’s Gila Resource Information Project (GRIP) planned to attend the New Mexico Mining and Minerals Division meeting on Chino Mine’s Closure Plan. Progressives released a five-point advocacy attack for their rabid supporters and called on their supporters to attend the meeting AND show up early at 3:30 p.m. to the progressive California-values people plan to counter real Grant County residents and show up early. Too bad for the the progressives we got wind of it and shared the news so that everyone in Grant County (not just paid activists and retirees from California!) get to know what’s going on in Grant County and have a chance to have their voices heard.

In her message to supporters Allyson Siwik, GRIP executive director, claims we (everyday Grant County community members) are holding an “anti-environment rally” beginning at 3:30. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Yesterday, perhaps in a panic because we got the word out, the anti-mining GRIP sent out yet another email, this time claiming they’re not advocating for the closure of the mine, yet preparing for its inevitable closure. We already know what GRIP’s position is based on what they have already said in other meetings. Watch the defensive GRIP video below.

In GRIP’s defense, they’re not used to citizens speaking up and catching their horrific statements, but now that they’re confronted and caught, they’re pretty upset about it and they’re backpedaling. How horrible [for them]!

Allyson Siwik, executive director for GRIP also wrote a defensive op-ed that was published in the Silver City Daily Press this week. Siwik is also connected to the Sierra Club Rio Grande chapter and writes for their website. How many conservative/pro-mining organizations are hiring in Grant County? I would guess zero, but Conservation Voters of New Mexico is hiring a community organizer who will work under Allyson Siwik and combat the work of you and me. Do you think their goal is to simply help the mine become cleaner? Think again. Their founder Grant County Commissioner Harry Browne has been a radical protester since he was a child and wants to shut down the mine, just like how he takes credit for heading a group in college that blockaded Seabrook. Watch the video. Decide for yourself.

As for Chino Mine, you can read their handout that will be shared this afternoon here. Please read the hand-out and be prepared to speak about the importance of Grant County mines in this afternoon’s meeting. Because progressive Socialists plan to arrive early, please show up by 3:30 at the Grant County administration building at 1400 Highway 180 East – Silver City, NM 88061 at latest and be prepared to speak up.
