ProgressNow has done it again. They’ve misstepped and shown their real colors, but before I get into that, I want to congratulate them in taking a break from the status quo and loosening the requirements for hiring an executive director. You see, this time they switched things up and took a break from the normal prerequisites for their leaders (which are as follows):
- East or West Coast Native
- Aggravated DWI
- History of Bullying
- Failed elected official/candidate
Now we get to where ProgressNow’s latest hire doesn’t match with these prerequisites: she’s latino and female. ProgressNow is concerned about allowing women and minorities run the organization and so progress now settled for more strenuous vetting processes and more questions, to make sure the latino female candidate won’t step out of line, once hired.
But she does match the important points of the rest of the criteria, most notably the fact that she’s been arrested for aggravated DWI, just like ProgressNow’s long-time executive director Pat Davis!!!
