This week the congressional district 3 race, which is generally quiet got some attention when the challenger Jeff Byrd walked out of a debate where questions were screened and “censored” by the Santa Fe League of Women Voters. Before walking out, Mr. Byrd, a rancher from northeastern New Mexico, read a letter and explained on social media “we have been diligently trying, up until the last possible minute, to get the Santa Fe League to remove the censorship. They would not. Multiple claims of non-partisanship do not make it so.” I really don’t blame him and taking a stand for what he considered fairness was a telling move regarding Mr. Byrd’s character– he is not afraid to take a stand.
But what do we know of Congressman Ben Ray Lujan’s character? Well, many consider him merely a puppet in Washington D.C., taking orders from the top dogs, including minority leader Nancy Pelosi. Lujan is quite unimpressive, without the family name and his “congressman” title.
According to Ballotpedia, Congressman Ben [Rae] Lujan barely finished his education before beginning his run for U.S. Congress. He earned his B.A. from New Mexico Highlands University at age 35 less than two years before he would be sworn in as congressman! Sounds kind of strange, eh?

And what was Ben [Rae] doing BEFORE he finished that B.A.? One of his “great accomplishments” before Governor Richardson and his father polished him up for D.C. was working as a professional card dealer! A professional gambler makes a great congressman? Hmm…
But… let’s forget the past…that is [hopefully far] behind us. After all, give Lujan a chance, he’s probably just changed and walked away from all that mess! Maybe…and maybe not!
A field director hired by Ben Ray Lujan for one campaign season, Jason Loera, was under FBI investigation in a high-profile email-hacking case. As the Feds searched homes including the respective residences of Jamie Estrada, Anissa Galassini-Ford and Jason Loera, the search of Loera’s residence brought to light CDs of child pornography. While Jamie Estrada was sentenced to nine months in prison earlier this month for stealing emails, Jason Loera’s trial is scheduled to begin this month. A maximum sentence for Loera could be from five to twenty years in prison.

Oooookay… so…maybe Congressman Ben Ray Lujan hasn’t changed so much?! Maybe Congressman Ben Ray Lujan is still the guy who was pushed to finish his education and positioned for New Mexico’s congressional seat by a corrupt governor?
